Santa Maria di Leuca

Santa Maria di Leuca, the extreme tip of the Apulian peninsula, is a very elegant place, with beautiful ancient villas and a nice tourist harbour. It was already a tourist destination for nobles in the XVIII century an it now attracts more and more tourists and VIP who appreciate the beauty of the coast rich in cliffs and sea caves. In the highest part of the town rises the Sanctuary De Finibus Terrae and the lighthouse. From here, you can admire the harbour and reach the promenade by a majestic scale. Not far from the beautiful sandy beaches of the Ionian coast, Santa Maria di Leuca is the ideal place for a fantastic vacation.
The coast is mostly rocky with some different places for swimming. There are many inlets that can be reached by paths or steps. In this charming places, like the channel “Ciolo” and the sea caves, you can make nice diving or boat excursions. In some parts of the coast water is very deep, but in the core of Santa Maria di Leuca, where all houses are, the water becomes simply accessible thanks to sandy coves and bath establishments.
