Torre Vado
Torre Vado takes its name from one of the many towers built on the coast of Salento to protect the land at the time of pirates attacks. The tower in Torre Vado, wich lies on the Ioanian coast 10 km north of Santa Maria di Leuca, it's still preserved. The ancient tower rises on the little harbour where you can leave on boat for nice trips of the coast.
Torre Vado is part of the town Morciano di Leuca and it is characterized by short cliffs and sweet water sources. The sandy beach “Torre Vado” in the near town Salve can be reached by a short walk from many houses. In the evening, you can take a walk on the promenade where there is the weekly market, many bars and restaurants and playgrounds for children.
Torre Vado has a simply accessible coast. In the harbour area there are pebbles beaches which can be easily reached by paths. Going to north towards Pescoluse and Gallipoli, you will find the place “Posto Vecchio” with long and beautiful sandy beaches. Posto Vecchio can be easily reached by foot from Torre Vado, because it is also at a 300 mt distance. Here there is also a very equipped bath establishment with bar, restaurant and disco which offers very high quality standards.
